Fired Up and Ready to Go: St. Sebastianus Shooting Brotherhood Preps for Grand Festivities

As summer approaches, the ruler of St. Sebastianus Shooting Brotherhood, Claus Schiffer, is already basking in the preliminary triumphs. "Our dreams have been shattered by a mile," he excitedly shares with Extratipp's editors, "It's just great to receive the tsunami of positive feedback for our events." The shooting extravaganza, taking place from June 14 to 17, will witness the Kaarster Regiment shining brighter than ever. A staggering 1,500 sharpshooters and musicians are expected to unite under the banner of the St. Sebastianus Shooting Brotherhood. With an astounding total of 72 units, the brotherhood flaunts its diversity and strength. The vanguard and the sapper corps each form a unit, as does the Edel-Knaben-Corps. The grenadier corps catches the eye with a whopping 31 units, edged closely by the hunter corps with 22 units and the hussar corps with a meager three units. Furthermore, ten societies and three units of the St. Hubertus Corps add flavor to the community. The typical age of the brotherhood hovers around 47 years.

One of the main attractions is the "City Shooting Festival" on Sunday, inviting all neighboring friendly brotherhoods. In addition to the brotherhoods from the Kaarster districts, a delegation from the Neusser Furth brotherhood will also be present, among others. As many as 2,000 shooters could form one of the longest shooting units ever. "We are ecstatic that the friendly shooting brotherhoods have nodded in agreement to attend," declares Claus Schiffer, "and that, despite the eventful Pentecost days being just behind us."

Following the shooting festival, the brotherhood anticipates the youth shooting tournament in the fall and the queens' ball on November 8, where the corps and society king couples will be announced in a grandiose manner in the Albert Einstein Forum. To bring the anniversary year to a close, the brotherhood invites you to the annual closing mass with a subsequent festive conclusion on December 19, 2025. Thomas Broich
