The 98th Academy Awards are set to make history as they introduce a digital screening platform for the first time. Starting from August 15, 2023, over 11,000 voting members of the Academy will receive digital screeners for the Oscars, marking a significant shift in the film industry.

The Oscars screening room will feature a diverse range of films from different genres and countries. Among the initial batch of awards season contenders distributed digitally to Academy members are titles such as The Ugly Stepsister, Samir Oliveros' The Luckiest Man in America, Sony Pictures Classics' Becoming Led Zeppelin, Don't Let's Go to the Dogs Tonight, Zaid Hamzeh's Hello Beautiful, and more.

One of the most high-profile titles launched on Netflix, K-Pop: Demon Hunters, is also among the first films sent to voters in the Oscars Digital Screenings. The animated film, currently in the fourth spot on Netflix's list of all-time most popular films, has gained global traction due to its dynamic music and captivating storyline.

Films participating in the Oscars Digital Screenings are required to pay $20,000 for inclusion. However, an alternate fee is available for films with budgets of $10 million or less.

As the digital screenings begin, members must confirm that they have watched all films in a category to be eligible for voting in the final round. Films in contention for various Academy categories such as Best Picture, International Feature, Documentary, and the Shorts will be showcased in the screening room.

The Oscars' Digital Screenings will offer a convenient and accessible way for Academy members to view and vote on the contenders. New film screenings will be available every Friday during the Oscars Digital Screenings. Voters can begin screening contenders as studios and films prepare for the 98th Academy Awards.

With the introduction of the Oscars Digital Screenings, the Academy is embracing the digital age, making the film industry more accessible and inclusive for all. This new approach promises to bring excitement and anticipation to the awards season like never before.

Social media platforms are likely to buzz with discussions about various films as the Oscars Digital Screenings provide a platform for members to view and vote on contenders for Best Picture, International Feature, Documentary, and Shorts categories. The move towards digital screenings, with an initial batch of 2023 contenders including titles like K-Pop: Demon Hunters, The Ugly Stepsister, and Sony Pictures Classics' Becoming Led Zeppelin, also signifies a more diverse and inclusive entertainment landscape, encompassing genres, countries, and various forms of art, such as music and movies-and-tv.
