K-Drama Series 'Love Take Two' Cast Discusses Unique Aspects That Set Their Show Apart

In the upcoming Studio Dragon drama, "Love, Take Two," audiences are set to witness a captivating story of a mother-daughter duo navigating their complex relationship while also exploring the themes of new beginnings and rekindled romance. The drama airs in South Korea on Aug. 4 and will be available on Rakuten Viki in the U.S.

Director Yu Je-won, known for his work on shows like "Love Next Door," "Crash Course in Romance," "Hometown Cha Cha Cha," and "Tomorrow with You," has taken the helm for this emotional rollercoaster. For "Love, Take Two," he wanted to work with Yum Jung-ah and Park Hae-joon, who play the central characters in this heartwarming tale.

Yum Jung-ah portrays Lee Ji An, a 43-year-old single mother and a hardworking manager at a construction company. Her character is naturally adept at conveying deep emotions, making her portrayal of Lee Ji An a compelling watch. Park Hae-joon, on the other hand, plays Ryu Jung Seok, an architect who's also raising his son alone. His character is rough around the edges but genuine and sincere, offering a contrast to Lee Ji An's more reserved demeanor.

The mother-daughter duo in "Love, Take Two," played by Yum Jung-ah and an as-yet-unspecified actress, move from the city to a rural village called Cheonghae to start a new life. Their transition is not without its challenges, as the daughter, a medical student, rebels against her mother, leading to frequent conflicts.

The drama also introduces a romantic subplot between Lee Ji An and Ryu Jung Seok, adding an extra layer of complexity to the story.

Supporting the main cast is Choi Yoon-ji, who plays Hyo-ri, a medical student. Hyo-ri's character ended up in med school under her mother's pressure, causing strain in their relationship. Choi Yoon-ji brings a quality to her role that makes the audience want to root for her.

Interestingly, Kim Min-kyu, who plays a young farmer who runs a flower farm in the drama, initially didn't see much resemblance between himself and his character. However, as filming progressed, he realized they shared similarities.

Director Yu Je-won had to remind himself not to be swayed by Kim Min-kyu's striking looks during the audition process, demonstrating his commitment to casting the best actors for the roles.

To create a believable on-screen chemistry between Yum Jung-ah and Choi Yoon-ji as mother and daughter, the two actresses spent time together before shooting.

"Love, Take Two" promises to offer deep emotional comfort, feeling like summer itself, and opening up even the most closed-off hearts. With its focus on family bonds, generational conflict, new beginnings, and rekindled romance, it's a drama not to be missed.
