Juvenile and two others suspected in a gang-rape incident in Kanpur, one juvenile apprehended while the third remains at large
In the small town of Maharajpur, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, a minor girl was the victim of a horrific gang-rape incident on July 26. The shocking event has sent ripples throughout the community, with the local police launching a thorough investigation in collaboration with the crime branch.
According to reports, the girl approached the Maharajpur police station on Monday to report the crime. The perpetrators, who included two individuals and a 15-year-old, allegedly lured the girl to a secluded spot under the pretext of making purchases. It was here that the assault took place.
Two of the accused, Divyanshu alias Lucky and his 15-year-old friend, were apprehended and presented before the court. Divyanshu, who is now in jail, and the minor have been moved to a juvenile home. However, the third suspect, a 19-year-old named Mahesh, remains at large. A manhunt has been launched to find him, as he is currently absconding.
Mahesh, a resident of the Fatehpur district, is believed to have played a crucial role in the gang-rape. He allegedly took the minor victim to the secluded spot and raped her. The police have initiated a search for Mahesh, and the community is urged to remain vigilant for any information leading to his arrest.
The victim was reportedly offered a nose pin during the attack, later robbed of approximately ₹1,000, and then dropped near her house. The perpetrators had originally demanded 7,000 from the girl, but she had no money. The girl's medical examination has been conducted to confirm the charges of gang-rape, but the results are still awaited.
The police are yet to find Mahesh, but the search continues. The community stands united in support of the victim and calls for justice in this harrowing case. As the investigation progresses, updates will be provided to keep the public informed.
