At the 2017 Sony Open on Hawaii, the young gun Justin Thomas made history by becoming the youngest golfer ever to card a 59 on the PGA Tour. This phenomenal achievement placed him alongside seven other golfing legends who have achieved this stellar feat: Al Geiberger, Chip Beck, David Duval, Jim Furyk, Paul Goydos, and Stuart Appleby.

Thomas, a 23-year-old professional golfer hailing from Louisville, Kentucky, expressed his elation, acknowledging the historical significance of the 59-score in golf. "We all know that 59 is the magical number in golf," Thomas shared while speaking to the Golf Channel at Waialei Country Club.

Justin's string of victories on the PGA Tour in the last three seasons, coupled with his sublime skills, has chiseled him as a force to be reckoned with. Despite ending with an undistinguished 18th-place tie at the PGA Championship in 2015, his consistent performance and aptitude for the game have earned him a prominent place in the golfing fraternity.

Various golfers have broken into the coveted sub-60 club on the PGA Tour, with notable instances including Geiberger in 1977, Beck in 1991, Duval in 1999, Goydos in 2010, and Appleby in 2010. In 2016, Jim Furyk posted the lowest round in PGA Tour history, with a breathtaking 58 at the Travelers Championship.

Thomas' historic feat has opened up new possibilities for his career and reaffirmed the belief that he's a golfer who keeps delivering when it matters most. In the encapsulating words of his close friend and two-time Major Champion, Jordan Spieth, "This guy always hits it straight. His fairway play and his short game is just, just really, really good."
