Justin Rose Secures Victory at FedEx St. Jude Championship and Eyes Ryder Cup Glory
Justin Rose, the veteran British pro, has claimed his 12th PGA Tour title at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, marking his first win since the 2023 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. The 45-year-old, who is the oldest man in the top-10 by nine years, expressed his pride about this latest achievement in a career that has spanned 27 years.
Rose's journey to victory was not without challenges. He came through Final Qualifying to finish T2nd at The Open in 2024, and followed this up with a solo-sixth place finish at the Genesis Scottish Open in 2025. However, it was his performance at the FedEx St. Jude Championship that truly showcased his resilience. Rose reeled off four consecutive birdies from the 14th hole to force extra holes, eventually securing the win in a playoff.
Rose's latest triumph has not only boosted his confidence but also his world ranking, which now places him at 9th position. Speaking about his form, Rose mentioned that he is getting a little bit better at the moment, and there is a good bit of runway ahead. He even expressed that he still feels there is a "golden summer of my career" available to him.
Rose's success extends beyond the PGA Tour. His Ryder Cup record is impressive, with six appearances for Team Europe under his belt. He has an overall team record of 4 wins and 2 losses, and individually, he holds 14 wins, 9 losses, and 3 ties, earning him 59.6% of potential points and a total of 15.5 points, ranking him 11th on the all-time points list.
Rose's individual match records in recent Ryder Cups include performances such as 3–0–2 in 2016 and 1–1–1 in 2023, contributing to Europe’s victories and competitiveness. His upcoming tournament includes the 2025 Ryder Cup held from September 26 to 28 at Bethpage Black, New York, where he will represent Team Europe for his seventh appearance.
Rose will face JJ Spaun once again at the Ryder Cup next month, after defeating the US Open winner on the third playoff hole earlier this year. Rose mentioned Phil Mickelson as an example of a player who bucked the trend by winning a Major at 50, and he believes that more big titles remain a legitimate possibility for him.
As the Ryder Cup approaches, Rose is aiming for a second FedEx Cup, and with his recent form, he is undoubtedly a key leader for Team Europe.
Rose has previously demonstrated his skill in the Ryder Cup, boasting an impressive record of six appearances for Team Europe. With his latest victory at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, he might consider adding a title in golf's prestigious event, the Ryder Cup, to his list of achievements.
