Jurassic World Rebirth Roars to $147M Box Office Debut
Jurassic World Rebirth, the latest installment in the dinosaur-filled franchise, has made a splash at the box office. The film, directed by Gareth Edwards, grossed $147 million domestically over the five-day holiday weekend. It's now set to hit Peacock for streaming on October 30.
Rebirth, the seventh film in the Jurassic series and fourth in the Jurassic World cycle, has received a mixed response from critics. They praised the performances and action sequences but found the story formulaic. The film's worldwide box office earnings reached $867 million over the summer, performing on par with Jurassic World Dominion but slightly below the previous Jurassic World films.
The movie is penned by David Koepp, who also wrote the original Jurassic Park and its 1997 sequel. This marks his first collaboration with director Gareth Edwards on a Jurassic production. Koepp's script is a reboot with nostalgic elements from the original film. Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, and Jonathan Bailey headline the film as new characters.
Jurassic World Rebirth is expected to perform well in home video markets, potentially boosting both Peacock's streaming service and the franchise's overall success. With its impressive box office numbers and upcoming streaming release, the film is poised to continue the Jurassic series' legacy.
