The U.K. and Ireland cinema market saw a 3% increase in revenue during July 2025, with a total box office of £107.3 million ($142.3 million). The month was dominated by several big-budget releases, with Disney's The Fantastic Four: First Steps taking the top spot.
Disney's latest superhero film made a strong debut, earning approximately £8.1 million ($10.7 million) in its first week. By early August 2025, it had accumulated around £15.4 million ($20.2 million), making it the highest-grossing film of the month.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps outperformed several other major releases, including Warner Bros.' Superman (2025), which remained strong at No. 2 with a total gross exceeding £28 million ($37.1 million) by the end of July. Superman (2025) is now the second-highest-grossing solo Superman film, behind only "Man of Steel."
Universal's Jurassic World Rebirth held firm around third or fourth place with cumulative earnings around $38.5 million (roughly £30 million) by late July. The film made a second-highest opening of the year with $40.1 million in July 2025. Jurassic World Rebirth is now the fourth-highest grosser of 2025, eclipsing "Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning" and trailing "Lilo & Stitch."
Other notable top-grossing films during July 2025 included Pixar's Elio, which rounded out the Top 10 with $2.9 million, pushing its total to $6.1 million. Elio nearly achieved five times its opening total in the U.K. and Ireland.
Universal's The Bad Guys 2 entered the U.K. and Ireland Top 10 with $4.6 million in its first week, marking the second-highest animated opening of 2025. Paramount's Smurfs earned $4.5 million in its second week, nearly matching the opening of the 2017 reboot "The Lost Village."
The August slate includes several highly anticipated releases such as "The Naked Gun," "Freakier Friday," "Weapons," "Materialists," "Nobody 2," "War 2," "Eddington," "Life of Chuck," "Caught Stealing," and Disney's "The Roses." No specific box office figures were provided for the upcoming August releases.
One of the most exciting debuts of the month was "I Know What You Did Last Summer," which came in ninth with $3.1 million, marking the franchise's biggest opening to date. "Jurassic World Rebirth" is the fifth highest-grossing film in the "Jurassic" franchise, just behind "Jurassic World: Dominion."
In addition, "How To Train Your Dragon" added $6.8 million in July 2025, finishing fifth for the month. Its $28.9 million total places it as the second-best performer in the franchise.
