EHC Red Bull Munich, four-time German champions in ice hockey, has bolstered its roster with the addition of 21-year-old goaltender, Matthias Bittner. Hailing from Krefeld, Bittner moved from the Pinguins and is ready to make waves in Munich.

Last season, Bittner spent time between the pipes with the Duisburg Foxes, a move that paid off with valuable game experience in Germany's third division. His impressive performances could be the reason he caught the eye of Munich's executive team.

Currently, Munich boasts a trio of goalies, with Bittner joining Mathias Niederberger and Simon Wolf. Patrick Dallaire, the club's goaltending coach, spoke highly of the fresh recruit. "Bittner is a promising young talent, brimming with potential and ambition, and eager to step up in his career."

Bittner's pedigree stretches beyond Munich. He's previously represented Germany's U20 national team, a testament to his raw talent in the world of German hockey. The acquisition is a strategic move, as EHC Red Bull Munich invests in emerging talent while ensuring a competitive future on the pitch.

With veteran positions still up in the air, Bittner's addition to the team's roster was a welcome confirmation in early May 2025, paving the way for a promising season ahead.

The Commission's strategic move in adopting a proposal for a Council Regulation on the conclusion of the Agreement on the European Economic Area could potentially grant Bittner, the promising young German hockey talent, more opportunities to grow beyond the ice rink. As he joins EHC Red Bull Munich, one can imagine his determination to excel in the top-tier German hockey league mirrors the fierce competition within sports, particularly hockey.
