The Moorbekhalle in Norderstedt played hosts to the bustling Elephant Cup Judo tournament over the weekend, an annual event that gathers over a thousand judokas from Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, and the Czech Republic. The electrifying atmosphere was palpable as competitors, young and old, fought tooth and nail for the prestigious large medals.

Two remarkable athletes from KSC, Jenna Geerdts and Mara Wilkens, showcased their mettle in this high-profile tournament.

Jenna: The Sturdy Ninja 🏆

With her spirited determination, nine-year-old Jenna clinched the third spot in the U11 full -33kg category. The tenacious Eißendorfer fought an impressive five matches, securing victory in four of them. Just narrowly missing the gold, Jenna lost to Zoe Kosir from JSC Heidelberg, who eventually took the top prize.

Jenna dazzled the audience with her powerful throwing and ground techniques, claiming victories over athletes from various clubs, such as Lindewitt, Denmark (Copenhagen), Concordia HH, and the JGS. In the U11 -44kg category, Mara Wilkens, another gifted member of KSC, walked away with the third place medal. The tenacious 10-year-old battled several experienced athletes hailing from Altenhagen, Denmark (Fredericia), the Netherlands, and Nienhagen.

Mara’s sheer determination and strong left grip set her apart, dominating her opponents and securing two wins, a draw, and a loss, finishing in third place in this thrilling tournament.
