Tautumeitas Shines in Eurovision Semi-Final, Aims for Top Spot in Final

Tautumeitas, the Latvian musical group representing Latvia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2025, is gearing up for the grand finale after a successful run in the semi-finals. The group, known for their ethereal and enchanting performances, competed in the second semi-final on 15 May 2025 and secured a spot in the final with a runner-up finish.

The group, who won Latvia's national selection competition, Supernova 2025, with their song "Bur man laimi", are making history as the first Latvian Eurovision entry written entirely in Latvian. In the semi-finals, Tautumeitas was in competition with Armenia, Australia, Austria, Greece, Ireland, Lithuania, Montenegro, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Georgia, Israel, Luxembourg, Malta, and Serbia.

Preparations for the semi-final began early for one of the group members, Kate Slišāne, who started her day at half past four in the morning. The dress rehearsal with the audience the day before left an unforgettable impression on Kate Slišāne, filling her with excitement for the upcoming event.

The performance style of Tautumeitas blends traditional and contemporary elements, creating a unique and captivating atmosphere. A whole jar of hair gel is required for each member to achieve the wet hair effect, adding to the group's distinctive look.

The Eurovision grand spectacle begins at 22:00 Rīga time and will be covered by Latvian Television. With the odds on their side, Tautumeitas is aiming to advance further in the final and make Latvia proud.

About Tautumeitas

Tautumeitas is a Latvian musical group that represented Latvia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 with their song "Bur man laimi". The song, released on 4 December 2024, is notably the first Latvian Eurovision entry written entirely in Latvian[1].

They qualified to represent Latvia by winning Supernova 2025, Latvia's national selection competition. Supernova 2025 featured a semi-final on 1 February with nineteen entries, from which Tautumeitas advanced to the final and ultimately won on 8 February 2025. The selection process combined jury and public votes equally, with no wildcard chosen for the final. Tautumeitas was announced as a semi-finalist on 20 November 2024, and their victory at Supernova secured their Eurovision spot[1].

At Eurovision 2025, held at St. Jakobshalle in Basel, Switzerland, Latvia competed in the second semi-final on 15 May 2025, performing in the first half of the show following the allocation draw on 28 January. Latvia qualified successfully from this semi-final, finishing as runner-up in that round. In the Grand Final on 17 May 2025, Tautumeitas finished 13th with 158 points[1].
