Sanctuary cities shield lawbreakers, costing a steep price, says expert

Judge who impeded Trump's endeavor to slash finances for sanctuary cities exhibits considerable connections with Democratic Party.

In a breakdown of the latest sanctuary policy data, Lawrence Jones dissects the findings. Jessica Vaughan, the author of the report, joins us to discuss it. The data reveals that sanctuary cities released thousands of criminals.

Opposing the Trump administration, an Obama-appointed federal judge in California, William Orrick, issued a ruling to preserve funds for these sanctuary cities, with a murky background.

Recently, Judge Orrick, who took office in 2012, handed down a verdict, stating that President Donald Trump's executive orders against sanctuary cities are constitutionally unfounded. He claimed that these orders would violate the Constitution's separation of powers principles, the Spending Clause, as well as the Fifth and 10th Amendments.

In an outburst regarding judicial roadblocks, PRESIDENT TRUMP LAMBASTES COURTS FOR OBSTRUCTING DEPORTATION PLANS.

Coming into question, Judge Orrick's ties to the Democratic Party are under scrutiny. Records show that Orrick has donated a staggering $113,600 to Democratic candidates and committees over the years. Politicians like Obama, Kerry, Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton, and Diane Feinstein benefited from these donations[1].

Orrick also displayed his devotion to Obama and Kerry by making sizeable contributions to the Obama Victory Fund, the Democratic National Committee, and other Democratic committees. Furthermore, he served as co-chair of the Bay Area Lawyers to Elect John Kerry in 2003-2004 and the Bay Area Lawyers to Elect Barack Obama in 2006-2008[1].

Moreover, Orrick introduced then-California district attorney candidate Kamala Harris at a 2009 campaign fundraiser in San Francisco and has backed Obama and Kerry at several events dating back to 2003[1]. Such connections raise concerns about potential conflicts of interest due to his decision that supports positions favored by Democrats, such as stopping Trump's executive orders targeting sanctuary cities.
