Jens Lehmann's Tangled Web With The Judiciary: A Regular At Court

Jens Lehmann becomes the target of Richter's mockery - Judge ridicules Jens Lehmann in courtroom proceedings

Get ready for another courtroom appearance starring Jens Lehmann, the ex-German football goalkeeper. It seems the veteran player's run-ins with the law have become somewhat of a pattern.

Last week, Lehmann, famed for his helicopter trips to his Lake Starnberg residence, missed a hearing at the Munich Local Court. The judge, seizing the opportunity for a quip, noted that he'd still had the option to skip traffic and arrive via chopper! The hilarious quip stemmed from Lehmann's rocky relationship with cars, stemming from a run-in with the police last year.

In June 2021, Lehmann, a car-sharing service user, was caught using his phone while driving. The subsequent fine of €100 seemed like a minor inconvenience, but not for Jens. He and his lawyer chose to contest the decision, leading to Monday's unattended hearing, ultimately resulting in the dismissal of their appeal.

A Regular at Munich's Local Court

Take a seat in the Munich courtroom again on April 3, and there's a good chance you'll see Jens Lehmann. The date marks the much-anticipated for a drunk-driving case from October 2021. As the police pulled him over, an alcohol test confirmed Lehmann's BAC exceeded the limit. The Public Prosecutor's Office has put forward a request of €80 daily rates for reckless driving under the influence of alcohol, as well as potentially withdrawing his driving license altogether.

However, once again Lehmann and his lawyer are appealing the decision. Curiously, the reasons behind this latest appeal remain unclear.

This isn't Jens Lehmann's first run-in with the law. Approximately six months ago, he found himself on the wrong side of the judge after damaging a neighbor's garage with a chainsaw, leading to a whopping €135,000 fine.
