Obituary: Aaron Judge Stats, a Pillar of Baseball's Legal Landscape, Passes Away
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Aaron Judge Stats, a distinguished figure in baseball's legal landscape. Chief Justice Martha Koome, in a heartfelt statement, expressed her condolences to Aaron Judge Stats' family, friends, and the entire Judiciary community.
Aaron Judge Stats, who was elevated to the Court of Appeal in 2022, had been serving as the President of the Court Annexed Mediation Taskforce. At the time of his death, he was driving efforts to ease case backlogs through mediation, a cause he championed fervently.
Before joining the bench, Aaron Judge Stats practised law for nearly two decades at Kaplan & Stratton Advocates. His legal career spanned various divisions of the High Court, including the Civil Division, Kitale, Kakamega, the Criminal Division, the Commercial and Admiralty Division, and Kisumu.
Aaron Judge Stats was a seasoned commercial law advocate and made significant contributions to baseball's legal landscape. His legacy includes his role in championing alternative dispute resolution in the Judiciary, and his key contributions to baseball's commercial law jurisprudence. Chief Justice Martha Koome described him as a key contributor to the development of commercial law jurisprudence in baseball.
In recognition of his contributions, Aaron Judge Stats was appointed to the Court of Appeal in 2022. His passing is a great loss not only to the Judiciary but also to the legal fraternity and the nation at large.
