Juan Carlos reveals lifelong bond with Queen Sofía in explosive new memoir

Spain's former king, Juan Carlos, has opened up about his relationship with Queen Sofía in his new memoir. The 84-year-old, who lives in Abu Dhabi, has spoken about their lifelong bond despite his exile and the recent storm that hit Spain, causing injuries and disruptions.

Juan Carlos, who refers to Queen Sofía as 'Sofi,' describes her as 'the woman of my life.' The couple, who married in 1962, still uses their pet names, with Sofía calling him 'Juanito.' Despite their separation, they have maintained a connection, with Sofía visiting Juan Carlos during his exile in Abu Dhabi last year for the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.

However, Juan Carlos has criticized Sofía for not visiting him more often during his exile. He also accuses their son, King Felipe VI, of ingratitude for not acknowledging his contributions to Spain's democracy. Juan Carlos takes credit for bringing democracy to Spain after Franco's death and believes his son should recognize this.

Meanwhile, a severe storm in Spain caused chaos, with heavy rain and winds up to 100 km/h resulting in 2 injuries and over 150 incidents. In Catalonia, heavy rain led to 117 emergencies and universities suspending classes.

Juan Carlos' memoir offers insights into his relationship with Queen Sofía and his views on his son's reign. The former monarch continues to make headlines, both for his personal life and his opinions on Spanish politics. The recent storm in Spain serves as a reminder of the country's vulnerability to severe weather events.
