Juicy Beats Festival Bids Farewell, but Not Goodbye

The Juicy Beats Festival, a staple of the German music scene for three decades, recently held its 30th edition in Dortmund's Westfalenpark on July 25-26, 2025. However, this event marked the end of the festival in its current form, as organisers have announced no plans to continue it beyond 2025.

Despite the uncertain future, the 2025 edition was a lively and vibrant affair. House music filled the Electronic Groove Garden on Saturday, while indie pop took centre stage on the Weintraube Stage on Friday. Major German stars like Ikkimel, Alexander Markus, and rock band Blond graced the main stage, with Blond performing their hit "16 Jahre, blondes Haar" on the Apple Stage.

The festival attracted approximately 34,000 visitors, an impressive turnout considering the less star-studded lineup compared to previous years. The audience was treated to a variety of genres across all stages and dance floors throughout the days. Some attendees sought shelter during the brief shower on Friday, while others continued dancing in the rain.

One of the festival's highlights was the performance of Jan Delay on the stage in advance of the Juicy Beats festival in 2025. Zartmann also delivered an energetic set, getting the audience jumping with their performance of "meinen die uns".

Organiser Carsten Helmich believes that people attend the festival for the atmosphere, not just the big names. He enters discussions about the festival's future with a positive feeling, seeking a strong partner, preferably the city of Dortmund. If no solution is found by mid-September, the Juicy Beats festival may not take place in 2026.

The festival covered a reduced area in Westfalenpark in 2025, but free drinking water stations were available, sometimes leading to long lines. The weather remained stable throughout the weekend, making for an enjoyable experience for all.

While the future of the Juicy Beats Festival beyond 2025 remains uncertain, one thing is clear: the festival has left an indelible mark on the German music scene and will be missed by many. The organisers are working voluntarily to ensure a bright future for this iconic event. Stay tuned for updates on the discussions and potential changes to come.

The Juicy Beats Festival, despite its impending closure after 3 decades, showcased a diverse range of music genres during its final edition, with house music dominating the Electronic Groove Garden and indie pop taking center stage on the Weintraube Stage.

Organiser Carsten Helmich aims to continue the legacy of the iconic Juicy Beats Festival, seeking a strong partner, preferably the city of Dortmund, to ensure its bright future beyond 2025.
