The Altstadtlauf, with its mix of short runs suitable for children and beginners, and longer 5 km races for more serious runners, drew a broad community turnout. A total of 1,073 participants, including 319 kids, 213 students, and 91 main race participants, joined the festivities this year.

The event is more than just a running competition; it is a celebration of community health, participation in sport, and social togetherness. The charming old town setting provides a culturally rich backdrop, with additional festivities such as the "Altstadthockete" adding to its appeal as a local cultural festivity.

The race began early in the day, with the kids' races kicking off three hours before the main event. The winners of the Stolperer School Cup, Altstadtlauf School Cup, and Kindergarten Cup were announced at the post square after the races, with Martinstorschule, Grundschule Niederwangen, and Kindergarten Maria Regina taking the top spots, respectively.

One of the youngest participants, Paul (number 610), was ready five minutes early for his race. As he ran the 460 meters of the kids' race, he was cheered on by the parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles lining the route, applauding and smiling at the runners.

Daniel Schoch, the Neuravensburger fire chief, participated in the event and estimated losing about one and a half liters of water during the half-hour "walk" through the city. Reinhold Meindl, one of the hosts of the Altstadtlauf, encouraged the audience to cheer for the kids, contributing to the lively atmosphere.

In total, the Altstadtstolperer ran 4,796 laps, covering a distance of 5,204 kilometers. Sylvia Schmid from the Karseer construction company participated in the event with four people and managed to complete four laps.

The organizers of the 28th Wangener Altstadtlauf were satisfied with the event, with Markus Sohler from the FC Edel Atzenberg team praising the "great atmosphere" of the day.
