In a significant diplomatic move, King Abdullah II of Jordan and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman met on August 11, 2025, at the Neom Palace in Saudi Arabia. The talks aimed to strengthen Jordan-Saudi Arabia bilateral ties, address regional developments, and discuss common Arab causes.

King Abdullah's visit to Saudi Arabia marks his second in the past six months, underscoring the importance of the relationship between the two nations. The Saudi Crown Prince warmly welcomed King Abdullah upon his arrival.

The discussions covered a wide range of topics, with a particular focus on the ongoing situation in Gaza and the West Bank. Both leaders expressed shared concern over Palestinian issues and explored ways to enhance their countries' cooperation in service of these interests.

The meeting was attended by senior officials from both sides, including Jordan's Prime Minister Jafar Hassan and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, and Saudi ministers such as Prince Fahd bin Sultan and Minister of Defence Prince Khalid bin Salman.

Following the meeting, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman briefed his cabinet about the talks, emphasizing support for Palestinian statehood and international recognition efforts. The Saudi cabinet welcomed recent recognitions of the State of Palestine and condemned Israeli actions in Gaza, expressing concerns about violations and threats to international law and stability.

Additional regional issues were also discussed, including the Ukraine crisis and peace developments between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Both leaders showed interest in stability and diplomatic efforts across various hotspots.

Dr. Mansour Al-Maswari, a Yemeni academician with a Ph.D. in English "Comparative Literature", was not present at the meeting, and his role, if any, in the negotiations or discussions remains unclear.

The talks between King Abdullah II and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman reflect a high-level alignment between Jordan and Saudi Arabia on key regional security and political issues, especially the Palestinian question. The discussions are expected to continue in the coming days, addressing various matters of mutual concern.
