Jordan Fuller Sets New Holy Cross Records for All-Time and Single-Season Touchdowns Scores
Holy Cross Crusaders' Jordan Fuller Breaks Rushing TD Record and Leads Team's Bounce-Back Effort
Jordan Fuller '24, the current Chief Sports Editor at Holy Cross and a standout player for the Crusaders' football team, has made a significant impact on the field this season. His outstanding performance has earned him the title of a key contributor to the team's success.
In the 2023 season, Fuller broke the single-season rushing touchdown record, scoring an impressive 17 touchdowns. This achievement surpassed the previous record held by Joe Segreti, who had set the school's all-time rushing touchdown record with 37 scores by the end of his collegiate career. Interestingly, Fuller broke Segreti's record in his first year at Holy Cross, scoring 16 times in 1988.
Fuller's father, Jerome Fuller, is another legendary rusher from Holy Cross in the 1990s. He owns the current single-season record for rushing yards. Despite not setting any personal records this season, Jerome Fuller's influence on his son's career is evident, as Jordan Fuller '24 has stated that he started trying to be as good as possible to make his father proud and carries that mentality with him whenever he's training or playing.
The Holy Cross Crusaders, currently ranked as the #5 / #6 FCS team in the country, are looking to bounce back from their recent loss. The team suffered their first regular season loss in over a year against Boston College Eagles. However, they managed to defeat Fordham in the annual Ram-Crusader cup.
The Crusaders are aiming to win their fifth consecutive Patriot League championship. The team that faces them in the 2023/24 season and holds the record for most season rushing touchdowns by Joe Segreti is the Lehigh Mountain Hawks.
Despite his individual achievements, Jordan Fuller '24 emphasizes winning as his primary goal, not just breaking records. He values the opportunity to fully pursue life outside of football while playing for an elite program at Holy Cross. The Holy Cross community, according to Fuller, values wins over individual achievements.
The Holy Cross Crusaders previously defeated an FBS team, UConn Huskies, in 2021. As the team prepares for the upcoming season, they are determined to regain their winning form and continue their impressive streak. Fuller's leadership and dedication on the field are expected to play a crucial role in the team's success.
