Jonas Vingegaard Sets Sights on Vuelta a España Victory in 2025

Jonas Vingegaard, the Danish cyclist who recently secured a second-place finish at the 2025 Tour de France, has announced his future racing plans. The 26-year-old rider has confirmed that he will participate in the Vuelta a España, scheduled to start on August 23 in Turin, with the aim of claiming his first victory at a Grand Tour.

According to reports, Vingegaard has expressed interest in competing in the Giro d'Italia in the future, but has not yet committed to doing so next year. The Giro d'Italia is the only Grand Tour that Vingegaard has not yet raced, and he mentioned that discussions about his potential participation are still ongoing with his team.

During the Tour de France, Vingegaard showed a mix of impressive performances and challenging days. Despite losing a combined total of 3:15 at Caen time trial on stage 5 and Hautacam on stage 12, Vingegaard maintained a positive attitude, often ending stages happy despite losing seconds on the General Classification (GC) to Tadej Pogacar.

Vingegaard's consistent performance throughout the Tour was not enough to defeat Pogacar, who ultimately secured the win. However, Vingegaard described his performances as a confirmation that he is better than he's ever been, but also a reminder that he can have a few bad days.

Meanwhile, Wout van Aart won stage 21 of the Tour de France, while Thymen Arensman won solo at La Plagne.

As the Tour de France comes to a close, cycling fans can look forward to the upcoming races on Vingegaard's schedule. The Tour de France newsletter is available for subscription for those who wish to stay updated on the latest news and developments in the world of cycling.
