In the grueling third week of the Tour de France, Danish cyclist Jonas Vingegaard is gearing up for a strategic assault on the podium. Known for his strong performances in this stage of the race, Vingegaard is prepared to risk his current third place position to challenge for the overall win.

Vingegaard, a rider for Visma-Lease a Bike, has identified stages 16, 17, and 18 - Mont Ventoux, Courchevel, and La Plagne respectively - as his opportunities to turn the tide. These stages feature summit finishes, a terrain that favours Vingegaard's climbing strength and consistency.

The current time gap between Vingegaard and race leader Tadej Pogacar is mainly due to Vingegaard's two bad days, not Pogacar's improved performance. Despite this, Vingegaard remains confident in his ability to win the Tour de France.

Pogacar, considered one of the most complete riders in the peloton by Vingegaard, has shown no notable weaknesses during the race so far. However, Vingegaard believes his own performance is improving throughout the Tour.

Vingegaard's strategy for the remaining stages involves attacking. The success of his plan depends on Pogacar's performance. Vingegaard believes his level is much higher than it seemed during his bad days, and he is determined to make a difference and win the Tour de France.

At the end of stage 15, Vingegaard trailed Pogacar by 4:13. Despite this, he has finished second twice before in the Tour de France and is not deterred from aiming for the top spot. Pogacar, after getting over a small illness, appears to be in good health and ready for the challenging weeks ahead.

As the race progresses, the battle between Vingegaard and Pogacar promises to be one of the most exciting in recent Tour de France history. With three summit finishes remaining, the race for the yellow jersey is far from over.
