Jonas Lüscher Wins 2023 Wilhelm Raabe Literature Prize for 'Enchanted Destiny'

The Wilhelm Raabe Literature Prize for 2023 has been awarded to Jonas Lüscher for his novel 'Enchanted Destiny'. The prize, endowed with 30,000 euros, will be presented on November 1 by Mayor Dr. Thorsten Kornblum and Deutschlandradio Director Stefan Raue. The ceremony, prize picks, will be broadcast live on Deutschlandfunk Dokumente und Debatten at 4:30 PM.

The jury, consisting of nine members including Prof. Dr. h. c. Gerd Biegel and Dr. Wiebke Porombka as the spokesperson, selected Lüscher's novel for its exploration of the relationship between humans and machines, and the ambivalence of technical progress. The novel also delves into the possibilities and conditions of art and artists. Previous winners of the prize, awarded annually to a German-language narrative work, include Rainald Goetz, Jochen Missfeldt, and Saša Stanisic. A recording of the ceremony will be available on Deutschlandfunk on November 29 at 8:05 PM.
