Jomel Warrican joins cricket's elite with back-to-back caught-and-bowled dismissals

A bowling rarity last seen in 1912 resurfaces in 2024. How Warrican's precision revived one of cricket's most exclusive records—and why it's so hard to repeat.

The image shows a paper with a drawing of two people playing cricket, one of them holding a bat and the other holding a ball, with wickets set up in front of them. In the background, there are a few people, a tent, and a flag. At the bottom of the paper, there is text that reads "O'Connell Stumped Out".

Quiz! Who has the most caught-and-bowled dismissals in men's Test cricket?

Jomel Warrican joins cricket's elite with back-to-back caught-and-bowled dismissals

In this quiz, you have to list all bowlers with 10 caught-and-bowled dismissals in men's Test cricket.

At Sydney in the 1891/92 Ashes, George Giffen caught Gregor MacGregor and William Attewell off his own bowling, off consecutive balls. The feat was repeated by Albert Trott in the 1894/95 Ashes and then by Jimmy Matthews in 1912. Matthews, in fact, caught Reggie Schwarz and Tommy Ward to become the first (and till date, only) bowler to complete two hat-tricks in the same Test. More than a century later, in 2024, Jomel Warrican joined this trinity at Port of Spain.

While still a catch, the caught and bowled is an unusual dismissal, for the bowler does not require a colleague's assistance for the wicket. In this, it is akin to the bowled or the LBW.

In this quiz, you have to list every bowler to take at least 10 catches off his own bowling in men's Test cricket until March 30, 2026. We have provided their primary teams, career spans, total wickets, and total caught-and-bowled dismissals. Good luck!
