Joint Cycling Holiday Initiative Kicks Off: Police Dortmund and ADFC Dortmund Collaborate to Provide Safe Cycling for All Ages on July 28th

Dortmund, Germany - The city of Dortmund, in partnership with the Dortmund Police and ADFC Dortmund, is set to launch a summer vacation campaign focused on safe and technically sound cycling. The campaign, running from July 28 to August 8, aims to reach all generations and raise awareness of risks in road traffic.

The kickoff for this initiative will take place on July 28 at 11:00 AM at the Fredenbaum Youth Traffic School (Münsterstr. 270 C, Dortmund-Mitte). Notable attendees include Dortmund Police President Gregor Lange and Heide Kröger-Brenner, Chairperson of ADFC Dortmund.

Gregor Lange, in his speech, will underscore the importance of being not only fit but also safe on the road. He emphasizes that prevention starts with the right equipment, such as wearing a helmet, and using high-quality U-locks to secure bikes and securing them to fixed objects, preferably the frame and front or rear wheel simultaneously, as advised by Dr. Andreas Bach from ADFC Dortmund.

The campaign encourages everyone to participate in cycling training or pick up tips for more safety in cycling. The exact dates for the cycling training can be found on the tour schedule at this specific URL. Registration and information for the cycling training can be obtained via email at [email protected] and by phone at 0231/136685.

Children under 10 years old may only participate when accompanied. The exercises will take place in small groups at the Fredenbaum Youth Traffic School.

For media inquiries, journalists are invited to make appointments with Gregor Lange on July 28 for O-tone and image material. Separate invitations will be sent a few days before the appointment. Questions should be directed to Felix Groß at the Dortmund Police: telephone 0231/132-1034, email: [email protected].

The goal of the campaign is to reach all generations to raise awareness of risks in road traffic. By promoting safe cycling practices, the organisers hope to create a safer and more enjoyable cycling environment for everyone in the city.
