Johnston fined maximum for roughing in Ducks game
Anaheim Ducks forward Ross Johnston has been fined the maximum amount allowed under the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The penalty follows a roughing incident during a game against the Seattle Kraken on Monday, December 22. The fine totals $2,864.58 and will support the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
The incident took place at 19:34 in the third period of Game No. 573. Johnston received a minor penalty for roughing Kraken forward Tye Kartye. Officials also issued him a 10-minute misconduct.
The league reviewed the altercation and imposed the maximum fine permitted. All proceeds from the penalty will go to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund, which aids players facing financial hardship.
Johnston’s fine is now official, with the money directed to player welfare. The league’s decision reinforces rules against roughing during games. No further penalties have been announced at this time.
