John Harbaugh, head coach of the Baltimore Ravens, speaks out on rumors surrounding Justin Tucker following the team's selection of another kicker in the draft.
Rumors Swirl About Baltimore Ravens Changing Kicker Amid Allegations
Looks like there's a shake-up brewing at the Baltimore Ravens, as Justin Tucker's tenure might be coming to an end. Tucker, a seven-time Pro-Bowler, has been under fire recently, and his performance last season was less than stellar. With the Ravens selecting Arizona Wildcats kicker Tyler Loop during the NFL Draft, it's looking pretty likely that we'll see a change at the position.
John Harbaugh, the Ravens' head coach, finally addressed the elephant in the room during a press conference. When asked about Tucker's status, Harbaugh stated that any decision made regarding Tucker will be strictly based on "football," according to Jamison Hensley of ESPN. Harbaugh admitted that the team has no new information about the allegations against Tucker.
"From a standpoint of the investigation and all that, it’s just, we don't know anything,” said Harbaugh. "We haven't been given any information, as it should be. It's all done the way it's done. So, we don't know anything along those lines, so you can't make any decisions based on that. Every decision we make has to be based on football."
In other Ravens news, they've strengthened their offensive line depth by signing a former Super Bowl champion. Meanwhile, general manager Eric DeCosta made it clear that the team's strategy during the NFL Draft was focused on building for the long haul. Two ex-first rounders also received significant contract extensions.
As for Malaki Starks, a promising young player, he revealed an inspirational lesson he learned from his tough upbringing.
Tucker has been accused by more than a dozen massage therapists of inappropriate sexual behavior. The 35-year-old kicker has vehemently denied all allegations while an investigation has been ongoing since the end of the 2024-25 season. The NFL is currently waiting for a verdict on the situation before announcing any potential punishment for Tucker.
In the meantime, the Ravens have drafted Loop, who, at 23 years of age, joins a Ravens team that seems poised to contend for a title. Loop played five years at Arizona and was the starting kicker for four seasons. During his tenure with the Wildcats, Loop recorded a 98.4% extra point percentage and an 83.8% field goal percentage. His 327 career points are the most in Arizona football history.
