Television Producer Chuck Lorre Acquires Renovated Hollywood Regency Mansion in Bel Air

Television producer Chuck Lorre, known as the "King of Sitcoms", has expanded his real estate portfolio with the purchase of a stunning Hollywood Regency mansion in Bel Air, Los Angeles. The estate, originally designed by noted architect John Elgin Woolf, was sold for $27.5 million, according to reports.

The property, located at 218 Strada Corta Road, spans approximately 8,400 square feet across multiple levels, boasting six bedrooms and eight bathrooms. The house underwent an extensive makeover, which was featured in Architectural Digest, before its sale.

Key features of the home include Hollywood Regency architectural elements, such as Pullman doors and a glass-covered foyer overlooking a central courtyard. The interiors showcase a cocktail lounge with a lacquered fiberglass bar, a library and media room with a carved marble fireplace and built-in bookshelves, and a formal dining room with a mirrored ceiling and skylight. The kitchen boasts ebony finishes, Bulthaup cabinetry, and a French Lacanche range.

The primary suite offers two bathrooms, dual walk-in closets, and a private balcony. Additional amenities include a Moroccan-inspired lounge, a home office, a wine cellar, a gym, and picturesque grounds featuring a sunken fire pit area, a stone walkway, a koi pond, and a gazebo.

Lorre, who has a longtime home in the Pacific Palisades area of L.A. that he purchased for $2.6 million in the mid-1990s, also owns an oceanfront retreat in Malibu. He bought this property almost 15 years ago from Tony Danza.

The home was designed in the late 1940s by John "Jack" Elgin Woolf, who lived there twice, making it his personal residence. The property was listed by Linda May of Carolwood Estates, and Juliette Hohnen of Douglas Elliman represented the buyer.

Photos of the property show a beautiful blend of classic Hollywood Regency glamour with modern luxury upgrades, highlighting both architectural details and lush outdoor spaces. The sale marks another impressive addition to Lorre's real estate holdings.
