John Cena's departure tour persists: SmackDown presence in Dublin confirmed
John Cena is set to make history as the first-ever WWE Superstar to host a televised SmackDown event in Ireland, marking the beginning of his international farewell tour. The tour commences on August 22, 2025, at Dublin's 3Arena.
Cena's tour includes a series of high-profile matches, with the first confirmed bout being against Logan Paul at the Clash in Paris on August 31, 2025. This follows their back-and-forth on SmackDown after SummerSlam.
The tour also sees Cena's return to his home state, Springfield, Massachusetts, for a Raw event at the Mass Mutual Center on September 15, 2025. His final appearance in Chicago will be at the Allstate Arena on September 5, 2025, for a SmackDown event.
The opponents for most of these major events have not yet been officially announced, although a confrontation between Cena and Brock Lensar is expected during the tour. The intense altercation between the two at Summer Slam has left fans eager for a resolution. However, the date and location of this confrontation remain unknown.
Cena's year-long farewell tour includes about eight remaining dates after the Paris event, with four major pay-per-view style events closing out his legendary career. The final match will be historic and is part of a revived WWE show airing exclusively on Peacock via NBCUniversal.
In a unique twist, WWE has launched a new championship belt for Cena, the Dublin Championship Spinner belt, as part of his new merchandise. This tour is sure to be a memorable one, as Cena looks to conclude his retirement tour, with only 11 dates remaining.
The latest broadcast of WWE Friday Night SmackDown announced Cena's return, and while the rumor of a possible confrontation between Cena and Lensar at "Over the Limit" is circulating, no official confirmation has been made. "Over the Limit" is set to return in September 2025, so fans will have to wait and see if the anticipated showdown takes place.
As Cena prepares for the final stages of his in-ring career, he has concluded his 17th world championship run. This tour is a chance for fans to witness one of the greatest WWE Superstars of all time in the ring one last time in Ireland.
