Jogging husband meets unexpected violence; Klipphausen's widow asserts innocence in his death

In the hot seat today, Ramona B., accused of brutally murdering her husband. The gruesome incident happened on September 27th last year, and she's facing trial for reportedly hitting her husband with a car, then running him over multiple times.

Ramona remained silent in court, while her lawyer, Andrej Klein, defended her. He put forth an alternative narrative, claiming Ramona was nowhere near the crime scene and had no motive to kill her spouse. Instead, Klein accused the co-defendant, Claus T., of masterminding the crime.

The prosecution believes Ramona deliberately drove a silver Mercedes SUV, without license plates, at 30-40 km/h into her husband's legs, who was jogging near their shared home. Claus T., a 76-year-old insolvency administrator, was allegedly involved, providing the car used in the crime and making false statements.

According to the prosecution, Ramona then drove over her husband until the car got stuck in a ditch. She reversed and drove over him again, causing severe injuries. The prosecution alleges that Ramona's intention was to cause her husband's death, inherit his estate, and is charging her with 'cunningly killing a person out of greed'.

The victim's sister is also a co-plaintiff, demanding that Ramona be declared 'unworthy of inheritance' if convicted.

Claus T. is accused of aiding and abetting premeditated murder, having allegedly procured the car used in the crime for 15,000 euros, handed it over to Ramona on the day of the crime, and then taking it to a workshop in Dresden.

Both defendants were arrested shortly after the crime due to inconsistencies in their statements. Ramona's lawyer claims she was not at the crime scene and did not drive the car. He suspects Claus T. of wanting to get rid of the victim due to a lawsuit.

The trial is scheduled to last twelve days, with key witnesses testifying from mid-August. Witnesses include the jogger who found Ramona's lifeless body and another jogger who encountered her husband ten minutes earlier on his daily route.

Interestingly, this case bears some resemblance to the 2003 murder of Jeff Krotine's first wife, Ramona. Jeff was acquitted after three trials, but questions about the case remain unanswered.

Andrej Klein, Ramona's defense lawyer, contended that she was not at the crime scene and had no motivation for the murder, instead accusing Claus T. of orchestrating the crime. In the realm of general-news and crime-and-justice, this trial, reminiscent of the 2003 Ramona Krotine murder case, has generated significant public interest, with politics potentially coming into play as the victim's sister seeks to prevent Ramona from inheriting the estate.
