João Palhinha discusses the future and emphasizes to Diogo Jota: "We will take all necessary actions..."
In a surprising turn of events, João Palhinha's future at Bayern Munich appears uncertain, with the German giants reportedly open to selling the 30-year-old defensive midfielder for a fee between €25–30 million. This development comes after the Portuguese international joined Bayern from Fulham for around €51 million last summer.
Despite the potential sale, Palhinha remains highly regarded by national team manager Roberto Martínez. However, his playing time at Bayern under coach Vincent Kompany seems limited, with strong competition from the likes of Joshua Kimmich, Aleksandar Pavlović, Leon Goretzka, and new signing Tom Bischof.
Inter Milan has emerged as one of the most concrete suitors for Palhinha, with Arsenal also making a concrete approach worth around £26 million. Other clubs from England, Italy, Spain, Turkey, and Portugal have shown interest, although no official move to Sporting Lisbon or any other Portuguese club has been confirmed in the current transfer window.
Palhinha himself reportedly prefers to stay at Bayern, but would consider moving only if a compelling offer arises. The door remains open for a transfer away from Bayern, but no official move to Sporting Lisbon has been reported or confirmed as of now.
Away from the transfer speculation, Palhinha expressed his support for his fellow Portuguese international, Diogo Jota, who tragically passed away in a traffic accident in Spain. Palhinha granted an interview to Sport TV on Thursday, where he shared beautiful memories with Jota during the last Nations League and expressed regret at not being able to attend Jota's funeral. He also hoped to dedicate more trophies to Jota's memory.
As the pre-season approaches, Palhinha is motivated to show his value again in Bayern Munich. He assured that his focus is on staying in Munich and having a more significant role, and he will present himself on the 29th for the start of the pre-season.
Meanwhile, Ruben Amorim, the manager of Palhinha's former club Fulham, has expressed his interest in bringing Palhinha back to the club, although no official discussions have taken place as yet.
