JJ Redick’s sons win dream gifts after persuasive holiday essays
JJ Redick’s sons, Kai and Knox, received their dream Christmas gifts after writing persuasive essays to convince their parents. The boys, who lost their home in the 2022 Pacific Palisades wildfire, were also given special replacements for their destroyed basketball memorabilia.
The Redick family faced a devastating loss when their home burned down in January 2022. Among the items destroyed were Kai and Knox’s prized basketball collectibles. This Christmas, they were gifted signed, game-worn jerseys from NBA stars Victor Wembanyama and Chris Paul to help restore their collection.
Before receiving their biggest presents, the boys had to put in some effort. Kai, 12, and Knox, 10, each wrote persuasive essays explaining why they deserved their top gift requests. Kai’s argument earned him a Meta VR headset for high-definition gaming and entertainment. Meanwhile, Knox’s essay secured him an Apple Watch with location services enabled. The gifts also included a personal touch from two of the boys’ closest friends. Lalo and Brody, both long-time playmates, joined in the celebrations as the family marked a brighter holiday season.
The Redicks’ Christmas brought both high-tech gifts and meaningful replacements for lost treasures. The signed jerseys and new devices now hold extra significance after the family’s difficult year. Kai and Knox’s persuasive essays proved successful in making their holiday wishes come true.
