In a recent episode of "The Sarah Silverman Podcast," comedian Jimmy Kimmel discussed his views on current US politics and his acquisition of Italian citizenship.

Kimmel, who has been a vocal critic of President Donald Trump, expressed his belief that the state of US politics is worse than expected. He stated, "It's as bad as you thought it was gonna be. It's so much worse; it's just unbelievable." This sentiment seems to have driven Kimmel's decision to obtain Italian citizenship, as he shared on his Instagram in August 2025.

The comedian's Italian citizenship appears to be a symbolic or personal statement reflecting his political stance rather than a direct legal or political action related to U.S. politics.

During the same anti-Trump protest in Jackson Hole, Kimmel held a sign that read, "MAKE AMERICA GOOD AGAIN," a playful twist on Trump's campaign slogan.

Kimmel also used the platform to call for more acceptance, particularly from those on the left. He believes that those who voted for Trump but have expressed regret should not be condemned.

Interestingly, Kimmel is not the only celebrity considering alternatives in the face of Trump's presidency. Sarah Silverman mentioned that many people she knows are considering getting citizenship in another country, a sentiment echoed by celebrities like Rosie O'Donnell and Ellen DeGeneres, who have moved abroad ahead of Trump's second term.

Meanwhile, Kimmel's show, "Late Night with Stephen Colbert," has been making headlines. Despite being on summer hiatus from hosting his nightly ABC show, Kimmel continues to engage in political discourse, using his platform to voice his opinions and encourage open dialogue.
