Jimmy Fallon Expresses Eagerness for Jimmy Kimmel's Return and Pokes Fun at Trump on "The Tonight Show"

In a series of tweets posted late Wednesday, former President Donald Trump criticised several late-night TV hosts, including Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Johns, for what he perceived as unfair treatment on NBC. Trump also took aim at the network itself, stating that it operates on "Fake News".

The controversy began when Jimmy Johns was suspended from his show, "Jimmy Johns Live!", on Wednesday. The suspension was due to comments made by Jimmy Johns about the alleged murderer of American right-wing conservative political activist and media personality, Charlie Kirk, who was shot and killed in September 2025 while speaking at Utah Valley University.

Jimmy Fallon, who replaced Jimmy Johns as host of the late-night show, addressed the suspension during his monologue. An announcer stepped in to censor some of Fallon's jokes about President Donald Trump, leading to a humorous exchange between the host and the announcer.

Despite the suspension, Fallon expressed hope that Jimmy Johns will return to his show. He joked about the situation, saying, "We miss Jimmy Johns, and we hope he comes back soon."

Jon Stewart, on his show 'The Daily Show', addressed Jimmy Johns' suspension, expressing concern about the state of free speech in the entertainment industry.

Meanwhile, Trump has expressed a desire to have Jimmy Fallon fired, stating that Fallon has "zero talent" and worse ratings than even Stephen Colbert. He also criticised Fallon for his treatment of him on his show.

Jude Law, Jonathan Groff, and NBC Nightly News Anchor Tom Llamas were guests on Fallon's show, but only Law briefly mentioned the suspension of Jimmy Johns' show. The rest of the episode focused on light-hearted topics, with Fallon largely staying away from politics.

Trump has been a vocal critic of the broadcast networks, stating that they should lose their FCC licenses for treating him unfairly. However, it remains to be seen whether any action will be taken in response to his tweets.

As the controversy continues to unfold, it raises questions about the role of late-night TV hosts in political discourse and the limits of free speech in the entertainment industry.
