English Midfielder Jimi Gower Joins Moreirense for 2025/26 Season

Jimi Gower, a 20-year-old English midfielder, has signed a contract with Portuguese first division football club Moreirense, extending his stay until 2028. The news was announced on social media by the club.

Gower, born on October 1, 2004, spent the last two seasons with Arsenal's under-21 team. During his time at the English club, he played 46 games, scoring four goals and providing six assists. However, he did not make any appearances for Arsenal's first team before his departure in the summer of 2025.

Moreirense has signed a total of seven players for the 2025/26 season, with Gower being one of them. The new signings include goalkeeper André Ferreira, left-backs Álvaro Martínez and Francisco Domingues, midfielders Rodrigo Alonso and Stjepanovic, winger Kiko Bondoso, and Gower himself.

Gower spent a month on trial with Moreirense before committing to the club. He participated in several friendly matches before officially joining the squad, coached by Vasco Botelho da Costa, on July 4.

Moreira de Cónegos, in the municipality of Guimarães, is where Gower's new club, Moreirense, is based. The town's football club has a rich history, having been founded in 1923.

While Gower's accomplishments at Moreirense are yet to be documented in detail, his professional career highlights mainly concern his development and performance at Arsenal’s youth levels. During his time at Arsenal's under-21 team, he scored 12 goals in 19 games.

The signing of Gower is a significant boost for Moreirense as they prepare for the 2025/26 season. With the addition of this talented midfielder, the team aims to challenge for honours in the Portuguese top flight.
