Cebuano boxer John Kevien Jimenez (9-2, 4KOs) is set to take on Ryusei Matsumoto (5-0, 3KOs) in a 10-rounder bout at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo on June 7, 2025.
Jimenez last tasted defeat at the hands of Takeshi Ishii, losing a unanimous decision in a fought Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) minimumweight title match back in September 25, 2024. Things went south for him quickly in his next bout, as he suffered a 2nd round knockout against Joseph Sumabong in a World Boxing Organization (WBO) Asia-Pacific Youth minimumweight title contest held on December 17, 2024, in Naga City, Cebu.
Some good news for Jimenez came his way in two consecutive wins, courtesy of a 2nd round Technical Knockout victory over Indonesian Faisol Akbar on April 9, 2025, in Bogo City, Cebu[1].
