Dive deeper into Wordle
Wordle challenges you with six rows of five boxes every day, and the objective is to discover the correct five-letter word by guessing and eliminating or confirming individual letters.
Starting off well with a strong word like KAREN-something with multiple vowels, common consonants, and no repeating letters-is a good strategy. Once you hit Enter, the boxes will show you which letters you've got right or wrong. If a box turns ⬛️, it means that letter isn't in the secret word at all. 🟨 means the letter is in the word, but not in that position. 🟩 means you've got the right letter in the right spot.
Your second guess should compliment the starting word, using another solid word to cover any common letters you missed last time while also avoiding any letters you now know for a fact aren't present in today's secret word. With a bit of luck, you should have some colored squares to work with and set you on the right path.
After that, it's all about using what you've learned to narrow your guesses down to the correct word. You have six tries in total and can only use real words (so no filling the boxes with EEEEE to see if there's an E). Don't forget letters can repeat too (ex: OATS).

Originally, Wordle was created by software engineer Josh Wardle as a surprise for his partner, who loved word games[2]. It later spread to his family and was finally released to the public. The word puzzle game soon became extremely popular, inspiring countless games like Wordle, focusing on music, math, geography, and more[5]. It wasn't long before Wordle was sold to the New York Times for a reported seven figures[6]. With games like Wordle taking the world by storm, it's just a matter of time before we all communicate using tricolor squares.
Kerry BrunskillWhen baby Kerry was brought home from the hospital, her hand was placed on the space bar of the family Atari 400, a small act of parental nerdery that has snowballed into a lifelong passion for gaming and the sort of freelance job her school careers advisor told her she couldn't do. She's now PC Gamer's word game expert, taking on the daily Wordle puzzle to give readers a hint every day. Her Wordle streak is mighty, to say the least.
Somehow, Kerry managed to land writing regular features on old Japanese PC games, enlightening today's PC gamers about some of the most fascinating and influential games of the '80s and '90s.
