Jets' quarterback Justin Fields has been declared ineligible for Week 3's game against the Buccaneers.
The New York Jets suffered a setback in their bid for their first win of the 2025 season, as quarterback Justin Fields was forced to exit the game against the Buffalo Bills due to a concussion.
Fields exited the game after taking a sack from Joey Bosa, hitting his head on the ground hard. He was slow to get up and managed to stay in for a few more plays before being pulled out. Despite his valiant effort, Fields completed just three out of 11 pass attempts for 27 yards before leaving the field.
The injury occurred during the second game of the season, and Fields has since been ruled out for the game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. His absence is expected to pose a significant challenge for the Jets, who are already underdogs heading into Week 3 of the season.
In his short appearance in Week 2, Tyrod Taylor stepped in and completed 7 out of 11 passes for 56 yards and one touchdown. Jeremy Ruckert was the recipient of Taylor's only touchdown pass in the game.
The Jets were down 30-3 around the time Fields was injured, and they ultimately lost to the Bills with a score of 30-10. The loss leaves the Jets still winless in the 2025 season, with a record of 0-3.
Despite the setbacks, it's worth remembering that Fields had a standout performance in his Jets debut against the Steelers. He completed 72.7% of his passes for 218 yards, one passing touchdown, and two rushing touchdowns.
The Jets' next opponent, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, will undoubtedly present a formidable challenge. But with Taylor at the helm and the determination of the team, there's still hope for the Jets to turn their season around.
In a related note, Rich Cimini posted an update about Fields' concussion on Twitter, confirming that the quarterback would not be available for the game against the Buccaneers. The Jets will have to rally together and find a way to overcome this obstacle if they want to secure their first win of the season.
