Jessica Simpson experiences wardrobe malfunction during her performance on 'The Today Show' but successfully completes her act.
Jessica Simpson Experiences Wardrobe Malfunction During Comeback Performance
Jessica Simpson, the 44-year-old singer and fashion mogul, experienced a wardrobe malfunction during her comeback performance on the Today show on Wednesday, July 23. The incident occurred while Simpson was performing a medley of her past hits, including "I Think I'm in Love with You" and "With You," as well as her new release, "Fade."
The wardrobe malfunction took place when Simpson's corset-style top slipped down, exposing her pink bra. However, Simpson kept her cool and quickly readjusted her outfit. In true Simpson fashion, she joked about the incident, saying, "Of course I had a malfunction here and everywhere, but it's OK. I think my boobs stayed in, so it's OK."
This wasn't the first time Simpson's lyrics have alluded to her personal life. In the song "Leave," which she recorded with her partner, Eric Johnson, Simpson sings about marriage troubles. The couple, who got married at the San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito, California in 2014, separated after 10 years of marriage earlier this year. They are currently living separately and focusing on what is best for their children: Maxwell, 12, Ace, 11, and Birdie, 5.
Simpson spoke about their situation to Us Weekly in January, stating, "It's important to protect our children and focus on their well-being during this transition." After the performance, Simpson laughed off the incident while speaking to the Today hosts.
Simpson's comeback EP, Nashville Canyon: Pt. 1, was released earlier this year, with part two scheduled for release on September 4, 2025. The singer also made her TV debut in 15 years at the Season 23 American Idol finale in May. Despite the wardrobe malfunction, Simpson expressed that it felt "insane" and "really beautiful" to return to the stage after a 15-year hiatus.
