Jessica Neuhauser clinches the Grand Prix victory

An exhilarating evening unfolded in Wiesbaden's castle park last weekend as the top-tier equestrian world took center stage, brimming with intensity and emotion. The climax? The Kür under spellbinding floodlights on Sunday night.

Jessica Neuhauser conquered her most monumental career victory on Saturday: In the Grand Prix of the Kür-Tour's Prize of the Liselott and Klaus Rheinberger Foundation, the 24-year-old Swiss rider secured an emphatic victory on the back of her trusty steed, Rockson, scoring an impressive 69.870%. Her triumph in Wiesbaden not only marked her maiden visit to the city, but also represented a spectacular debut.

Lost for words, Neuhauser beamed, "I'm over the moon! I had an incredible feeling – in this unparalleled atmosphere. It was absolutely incredible!” In an unusual twist for an equestrian sports star, Jessica started riding at the age of 12 on medical advice to strengthen her back muscles. Her triumph in the Grand Prix signified the realization of a long-held dream.

Nadine Plaster's Comeback

Talented rider Nadine Plaster narrowly missed out on the first place, securing second place with her 10-year-old mare Shiva NRW. Her score of 69.022% generated high anticipation for the forthcoming Kür under floodlights on Sunday evening, when her performance would be showcased against the breathtaking backdrop of Wiesbaden Castle.

Nadine shared, "My husband composed the music for the Kür. We won with over 75 percent in Aachen – it didn't go so well in Lier. Here, everything should fall into place again." Shiva has yet to acclimate to performing under floodlights, but Plaster remains optimistic, confidently asserting, "Shiva is the gentlest horse in the world."

Jung Lights Up the Jumping Field

On the jumping track, the enigmatic figure of Michael Jung cast a long shadow over the fierce competition on Saturday. In a dominating display, Jung clinched victory with his nine-year-old Qwatt. Astonishingly, the four-time Olympic champion raced to victory in just 65.82 seconds, leaving international pairs from 21 nations trailing in his wake.

Jung praised his steed, "Qwatt was exceptional. He is calm, easy-going, quick to respond – an extraordinary horse, brimming with potential." With Jung leading the way, the stage was set for an equally dazzling display in the cross-country test.

What's Coming Next?

As the Grand Prix Kür under floodlights approaches on Sunday evening, riders will dance into the night, accompanied by their chosen melodies, against the resplendent backdrop of Wiesbaden Castle. HR television will air the Grand Prix and the Grand Prix of the State Capital Wiesbaden live on Monday.
