Jerrod Carmichael's Recent Bold endeavor: Delivering Humorous Remarks
Unfiltered & Uncensored: Tapping Back with Jerrod Carmichael 💥
Comedian Jerrod Carmichael is back with a bang! After venturing into unexplored artistic territories for the past three years, he's back to his hilarious, no-holds-barred self in his new special, Don't Be Gay, now streaming on HBO. 💥
His latest stand-up delves into the fallout from his analytical and emotional stand-up special Rothaniel (2022), his family's conservative views on his personal life, and his newly explored romantic terrain. This fresh material includes candid, boundary-pushing jokes about his significant other – ranging from revealing confessions to TMI to touching emotional moments. Oh, and did we mention the incredible punchline about white Nike socks that'll leave you laughing and rethinking your views on Claire Huxtable? 💥
Before diving into Don't Be Gay, I had an in-depth, four-hour chat with Jerrod Carmichael for GQ Hype after Rothaniel. Although we spoke over the phone, we covered plenty - from his infamous The Breakfast Club appearance, telling jokes about an ongoing relationship, to the simple joys of Whitney Houston. 💥
GQ: Jerrod, how are you feeling about the reception of your new special?
Jerrod Carmichael: Man, I'm feeling good! Your positive response means a lot to me. At first, it's like, "Is anyone laughing at this?" and then I got the first few texts about it, and it made me incredibly happy. I'm genuinely content that it's finally out, happy that people are finding it, laughing, and sharing their thoughts on it. 💥
How are you monitoring the reactions to it?
I stopped checking my name on apps to see what people are saying about me because it can be too much. It's not just the hate, as I know that's inevitable. The internet thrives on negativity, and like many, I appreciate it too. I enjoy when we all gather to pick on someone! When it happens to others, it's fun, but when it's about me, it's a different story. 💥
Either we get our feelings hurt or get stuck in the comments. It's like repetition of our parents' ideas of us - "you're a good boy" - followed by something we do that makes us question ourselves. The internet comments can be overwhelming, and I realized that the downsides outweigh the benefits. 💥
