Jennifer Lawrence’s Missed Tarantino Roles Reveal Hollywood’s Harsh Realities
Jennifer Lawrence missed out on multiple roles in Quentin Tarantino’s films due to scheduling conflicts and comments about her looks. The actress was once a top choice for key parts in The Hateful Eight and Once Upon a Time… In Hollywood. Yet, timing and casting decisions led to other stars taking the roles instead.
Tarantino first approached Lawrence for the role of Daisy Domergue in The Hateful Eight. However, she turned it down because of commitments to The Hunger Games promotions. The part eventually went to another actress.
Years later, the director considered her again—this time for two roles in Once Upon a Time… In Hollywood. One was Sharon Tate, the late actress whose sister, Debra Tate, preferred Margot Robbie for her striking resemblance to Sharon. Robbie ultimately landed the part. Lawrence was also in the running for the smaller role of Squeaky, which instead went to Dakota Fanning.
Reports later revealed that Lawrence was rejected for Sharon Tate’s role due to remarks about her appearance. The actress herself had previously joked about being passed over for Bella Swan in Twilight because she was ‘too ugly’.
Margot Robbie played Sharon Tate in the final film, while Lawrence moved on to other projects. The casting decisions highlighted how both scheduling and physical resemblance can shape major roles. Tarantino’s films, meanwhile, continued to draw attention for their star-studded ensembles.
