Column No. 999: Celebrating the Streak
- Mail from Voiceover Mike: Props to you and Sean on reaching #1000, a massive achievement for both of you. Diving into my inbox, I stumbled upon the very first email I sent to you, way back in August 22. Till this day, I was astonished to find my mail in the 1,000th column! I also hadn't realized I've been following Screencaps since 2022. I owe it all to you and Sean for the incredible community you've built under the Outkick/Screencaps banner. Keep up the fantastic work!*

Kinsey:
- Screencaps reader witnessing Charley Hull's slow play: A pleasant evening at the Women's US Open... wrapping up my volunteer duties on Wednesday, and with wet grass from the rain, the next best opportunity was to watch Charley Hull, Nelly Korda, and Lexi Thompson. First picture is the best, as we say in bratwurst country... "Suns out, Buns out"!! Charley Hull was still on fire today, not with cigarettes, but with slow play. One of our friends wrapped up his volunteer session and caught up with Nelly, Lexi, and Charley and said she had arrived at the second tee 3 minutes ahead of the other two players. Here's hoping we get some better weather this weekend so that Wisconsin shines brighter.*
- My Reds might be the most (ager-appropriate) .500 team in history: Just when it looks like they're going to disappear, they manage to win a game like this against a team that just won seven of its last eight. Yes, I get it, the Cubs have just been tearing apart the Rockies, but still, they were on a roll. As I keep reminding everyone, just play .500 ball until mid-August. Give us hope. Stay afloat. Make late July patio life interesting when I'm bored out of my mind because you guys are usually playing sub-.400 ball. Unfortunately, my Reds have the second-hardest remaining strength of schedule (.522) in all of baseball (Astros fans should remain calm; they have the easiest remaining schedule). Scrape out a few more wins here and there, boys. Keep your head above .500!
- Travel Ball Chronicles: When your best player gets a NIL offer from another travel ball program: 13U Travel Ball update (because I know you all love these horror stories): We had two games last Saturday. My son took the mound for the first game, as our ace pitcher wasn't there. I asked where he was, and a fellow Dad frowned and said he was in Denver for a tournament, playing for... our rivals. Apparently, our rivals (a much better team than we are) recruited our ace for this tournament only. I didn't know that was a thing, but everyone on our side was understandably upset. I couldn't help but smile when my son told me that during the practice, some kids told him we won both games without him. We just laughed more when we heard his tourney team got crushed. On a happier note, head on a swivel, here's a picture from the NJCAA Junior College World Series held every year in our town. Monday night's crowd was over 11,000 - about the same as you'll find at a Miami Marlins game.
- Sam's crazy cash-blowing invitation: I'm assuming Sam isn't your typical reader. I'm guessing he found my email via the short feature story I wrote on Olivia Hillery, where our website's Culture Department named her America's No. 1 Ranked Nursing Student Influencer. - Sam shares: Hi, I'd like to let you know you should contact Olivia Hillery and ask if she would consider starting or think about starting an OnlyFans. She has the potential to earn a lot of money by producing content. Kinsey: You guys are always wondering who spends money on OnlyFans. Sam, that's who spends ridiculous amounts of cash! No, I will not be forwarding Sam's absurd suggestion to Olivia.*
And with that, it's time for me to kick off my weekend. Both boys have baseball games coming up in a couple of hours, and then it's time to wear a hoodie and enjoy the last day of May, which is expected to be one of the coldest in NW Ohio's history. It's supposed to reach 66 today, while the normal high is around 78. It's been like this for weeks.
But we're enduring, we're surviving, and we're going to make the best of it.
Good luck to SeanJo with his big assignment and thanks to everyone who's helped make the streak a reality. If I'm being completely honest, I never thought the streak would make it this far, but here we are, climbing higher and higher.
Ripken played in 2,632 games in a row. There's no reason we shouldn't aim for at least one better.
Wishing you all a great weekend!
