Jeffrey Epstein's ex-partner, Ghislaine Maxwell, gets relocated to a detention center in Texas
Ghislaine Maxwell Transferred to Texas Prison Camp
Ghislaine Maxwell, the British socialite convicted of luring teenage girls for Jeffrey Epstein's sexual abuse, has been transferred from a federal prison in Florida to a minimum-security prison camp in Texas. The Bureau of Prisons carried out the transfer, but the official reason for the move remains undisclosed.
Maxwell was previously housed at FCI Tallahassee, a low-security prison, and is now at FPC Bryan, a minimum-security prison camp exclusively for women. Prison camps, originally designed with low security, allow inmates to perform work at the prison without repeatedly checking in and out of a main facility.
The transfer took place after Maxwell met with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche at a Florida courthouse over two days last week. Details about the discussion between Maxwell and Blanche have not been released, and Trump has stated he does not know when Blanche will disclose what was discussed during the interviews.
Maxwell's lawyers have expressed their openness to an interview, but only if the House Oversight Committee were to ensure immunity from prosecution. However, Rep. James Comer, the committee chair, has stated that the committee would not provide immunity or any questions in advance of Maxwell's testimony.
The Republican-led House Oversight Committee has expressed a desire to speak with Maxwell, considering her testimony vital to their investigation into Epstein. The committee has written a letter to Maxwell's lawyers, stating that they are willing to delay the deposition until after the resolution of Maxwell's appeal to the Supreme Court, expected in late September.
Maxwell's current prison camp housing includes Elizabeth Holmes and Jen Shah, among others. Some minimum-security federal prison camps do not have fences, indicating the lowest security risk assigned by the Bureau of Prisons. Maxwell was sentenced to 20 years in prison in 2021.
