Jeep Unveils 2026 Grand Cherokee With New Hurricane Engine
Jeep has unveiled updates for the 2026 Grand Cherokee, including a new engine and tech upgrades. Stellantis, Jeep's parent company, will provide the new 2.0-liter Hurricane tracker turbo four-cylinder engine, which will be available on the Laredo Altitude trim starting in the mid-$40,000s.
The Grand Cherokee, Jeep's top-selling U.S. vehicle, sees a rise in sales in the third quarter of 2025. The 2026 model retains the plug-in hybrid 4xe version and the three-row 'L' iteration. The new Hurricane tracker engine, producing 324 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque, offers improved fuel efficiency with an estimated 21 MPG in the city and 27 MPG on the highway, providing a range of over 500 miles. The engine maintains the V-6's maximum towing capacity of 6,200 pounds. Jeep CEO Bob Broderdorf expects two-thirds of buyers to opt for the four-cylinder engine. The refreshed Grand Cherokee features a slightly redesigned front end with new LED lighting, a larger 12.3-inch infotainment screen, and a premium 19-speaker McIntosh audio system. The Hurricane tracker engine uses a 'turbulent jet ignition system' inspired by F1 race engines, enhancing performance and fuel efficiency by 10% and 20% respectively. The engine will not be standard on entry-level Laredo and Laredo X trims, with prices starting at about $40,000.
The 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee receives a mild refresh with an updated front end, three new paint colors, and a larger infotainment unit. The new Hurricane tracker engine offers improved performance and fuel efficiency, making it an attractive option for buyers.
