JC 66 Bottrop U17 Team Returns with Full Set of Medals from Bayer Cup
The U17 teams of JC 66 Bottrop returned from the 9th International Bayer Cup in Leverkusen with a full set of medals, despite not winning in every category. The young athletes gained valuable experiences and are now looking ahead to upcoming tournaments.
Julie Lauer made headlines by winning gold in the under 70 kg class. She overcame a Dutch opponent she had previously lost to, demonstrating significant improvement. In the under 46 kg weight class, John Lukas Patz secured bronze, showcasing his skills despite not being the top performer.
Ivan Narizhnyi faced a challenge in the over 81 kg category, adapting to specific rules and nearly upsetting a heavier opponent. He won silver, a remarkable achievement considering the weight difference. Dominik Grinkin narrowly missed the podium, finishing fifth in his category, a commendable result nonetheless.
Following their strong performance at the 9th International Bayer Cup in Leverkusen, the U17 teams of JC 66 Bottrop will participate in two major tournaments on October 11. The men will compete in Herne, while the women will head to Holzwickede. The teams' recent success has set high expectations for these upcoming events.
