Singer, bassist, and music producer Lennart Meyer received the prestigious IB.SH-JazzAward from the Investment Bank of Schleswig-Holstein (IB.SH). During the Jazz Baltica Festival, he was honored for his artistic versatility and curiosity, as the jury explained.
Juror Nils Landgren praised Meyer, saying, "He's a musician of boundless openness who seamlessly moves between jazz, minimalism, and pop. Deeply rooted in tradition and equally sovereign in improvisation, he surprises with a musical treasure chest full of intriguing ideas." The IB.SH-funded award comes with a prize of 5,000 Euros.
The 26-year-old, born in Lüneburg, expressed his delight at receiving the IB.SH-JazzAward, calling it an honor. Meyer: "This award is a great affirmation and motivation for me to continue my artistic journey. I am thrilled to perform at Jazz Baltica!"
The IB.SH-JazzAward has been presented annually since 2008, recognizing the creative potential of young German musicians featured at Jazz Baltica. The award ceremony takes place on Friday, June 27, starting at 4:30 PM. You can catch Meyer's "Acoustic Band" performance on the Open Air stage on Saturday, June 28, starting at 9 PM.
