Carolina Panthers' Jaycee Horn Recovers Well After Car Accident

Jaycee Horn, the Carolina Panthers' cornerback, is on the road to recovery after a car accident that occurred on August 6, 2025. The incident took place a mile from the Carolina Panthers' training facility and also near Bank of America Stadium, the team's home field[1][2][4].

Horn, who is 25 years old and entering his fifth season with the Panthers, was driving alone when the accident occurred at the corner of Mint and Morehead streets[5][6]. Fortunately, no emergency medical transport was needed, and the only injury he sustained was a thumb injury requiring stitches[1][2][4].

Despite missing a joint practice with the Cleveland Browns and not playing in the first preseason game on August 9, Horn remains hopeful to return by the second preseason game on August 16[2]. By August 13, he reported to the press that he is "on track" to resume practice as soon as his stitches are removed, indicating a positive recovery trajectory[3].

The Panthers' coaching staff has confirmed that Horn is day-to-day and are closely monitoring his progress. They expect him to be ready for the regular season opener on September 7 against the Jacksonville Jaguars[4].

Last season, Horn had an impressive performance with one interception, 13 passes defensed, two sacks, and 68 tackles. He was also named to the Pro Bowl and played a career-high 15 games (all starts)[7]. The team selected him with the No. 8 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft[8].

Despite the setback, the Panthers and their fans can look forward to Horn's continued contributions to the team in the 2025 NFL season.
