Javier Mendes labels the upcoming confrontation as the optimal match for Conor McGregor's comeback.

American Kickboxing Academy's main coach, Javier Mendes, has advocated for the introduction of a new UFC 165-pound division, with the belief that this move could prompt the return of Conor McGregor to the octagon. Mendes envisions a title fight between McGregor and Michael Chandler as a promising matchup.

"The creation of a 165-pound division could be tremendously beneficial for MMA, mirroring boxing's multiple weight classes and offering more opportunities for fighters," Mendes expressed in a conversation with Bitcoin Casinos. "Such a title fight between McGregor and Chandler would be an excellent means to establish the new division on a grand scale."

Mendes' sentiments underscore the notion that a successful three-title win for McGregor, who previously held championships in featherweight and lightweight, would etch his name indelibly in MMA history. With McGregor's primary motivation nowbeing legacy and achievements, this prospect could lure him back into the cage.

Conor McGregor, aged 33, has been inactive since 2021, when he sustained a broken leg during a trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier. Although a fight between McGregor and Chandler was initially considered for UFC's 300th event on April 13 in Las Vegas, UFC president Dana White has consistently denied this possibility.

While specifics about a potential fight between McGregor and Chandler remain uncertain, the duo has a history as opposing coaches on The Ultimate Fighter Season 31. Despite McGregor's recent focus on ventures such as a potential OnlyFans purchase, the MMA community continues to anticipate his UFC comeback.

"What if the 165-pound division in mixed-martial-arts, similar to boxing's multiple weight classes, could offer more opportunities for fighters, just like it could for Conor McGregor?"

"Imagine a title fight between McGregor and Michael Chandler, not only as a means to establish the new division, but also as a potential opportunity for McGregor to return to sports and make a grand statement in the MMA world."
