Jason Stubler inaugurated as the latest La Salle Police Chief
In the city of La Salle, changes are afoot. On Monday night, Jason Stubler was sworn in as the new Police Chief, marking the beginning of a new era for the local law enforcement. The swearing-in ceremony took place during the Council meeting, with City Clerk Liz Bishop officiating.
Stubler, a native of La Salle, returns to his hometown after serving under Naperville for several years. He held various positions within the Naperville Police Department, including Commander, where he was responsible for patrol shifts, the Detention Center, Training Unit, Traffic Unit, and the Strategic Response Unit.
The appointment of Stubler comes at a time when the city is undertaking an emergency Water Main Replacement project. The project, located on Creve Coeur and Gunn Avenue, north of Eleventh street, has been awarded to Universal Asphalt & Excavating. The company's bid for the project was $200,000 less than the next highest bid, making it a cost-effective choice for the city.
The work on the Water Main Replacement project is currently underway. Additionally, proposals for additional work on Malcolm Avenue have been made, furthering the city's efforts to ensure a reliable water supply.
Meanwhile, the outgoing Police Chief, Mike Smudzinski, will officially retire on October 10. Smudzinski, who had been serving as the Police Chief in both Creve Coeur and Gunn Avenue before his resignation, will be retiring after a commendable tenure.
As Stubler settles into his new role, he expressed his thoughts on the position. More updates on the Water Main Replacement project and the city's law enforcement initiatives are expected in the coming days.
