Unusual annual race draws hundreds of eager participants

Japan has hosted its office chair races, as reported by our website, citing "24KZ".

The rules for competitors are straightforward: teams of three must complete as many laps as possible.

Teams have two hours to cover a total distance of 20 kilometers. To stay within the time limit, athletes take turns on the track.

Winners receive new office chairs from sponsors, along with 90 kilograms of rice for the entire team.

This quirky competition first emerged in Japan 16 years ago, with the inaugural race held in 2010 in Kyoto Prefecture. Since then, annual tournaments have been held in 10 major cities across Japan.
